TAR 2.51 walk-through

7/7

When you organize your subdirectory structure outside of TAR (creating and deleting subdirectories) and come back to TAR you might find out that your pull-down menu does not reflect these changes if TAR was already open . All you have to do is to right-click "Refresh" and your new subdirectory structure will be up and running!

Now you have a decent pull-down menu! ;-)

Tip: There are some textures like navigating lights or weapons which doesn't fit in any of the category types. Don't bother, go ahead and create a subdirectory with a recognizeable name in any of the categories you wish. For instance, you can see that I have created a "Weapons" subdirectory under the "Camouflages" category.

Lads and Gents! Now to end up TAR's new features in great style, I would like to present you, TAR's new capability to work with .cmd files!!! What does this mean? Well, CMD files are responsible for the 3D objects in Flanker and in Susto's own words TAR 2.51 "manages CMD files transparently: whenever a cmd file is found, TAR copies it into the correct directory without missing a beat. Of course, a backup copy of the original cmd is kept if the user has chosen to create a backup". So this is it! No more "TAR incompatible" labels!!

Here you can see Haco's full set of Weapons textures (which changes .cmd files) being managed by good'ol' TAR...

Ok, this is the end of our check-ride! Now it's fly time. Click "Launch Flanker" and have a ball!!!
